Bratislava Capitals Add OHL Draft Pick Glen McInnes

The VSM Bratislava Capitals have announced the commitment of Canadian goaltender Glen McInnes, adding an OHL-drafted netminder to the club’s roster for the 2026–27 European Union College Hockey League season.

McInnes, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-catching goaltender from Frankford, Ontario, was selected 133rd overall by the Barrie Colts in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.

The 2006-born goaltender brings experience from several levels of Canadian junior hockey to Bratislava. Most recently, McInnes played for the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the NOJHL, appearing in 32 regular-season games during the 2025–26 season. He also has previous OJHL experience with the Pickering Panthers and Cobourg Cougars, as well as junior experience with the Trent Hills Thunder.

McInnes developed through the Quinte Red Devils program before moving into junior hockey. During his U18 season, he posted a 1.05 goals-against average over 15 games and was recognized with the ETAHL U18 Best GAA award.

For the Capitals, the addition represents another opportunity to bring a Canadian player with a legitimate major-junior pedigree into the organization while providing McInnes with a new environment to continue developing both on the ice and academically.

“Glen is exactly the type of player we want to bring into Bratislava,” said Capitals head coach Karol Fako. “He has size, experience, and a background that shows he has been identified as a high-level prospect. Now he has an opportunity to take another step in his development while competing in a new environment.”

McInnes joins a Capitals program that combines college education through VSM City University of Seattle with a European competitive hockey experience through the EUCHL.

The Capitals are continuing to build their inaugural roster with players from North America and Europe who are looking for an opportunity to compete, develop and pursue their education internationally.

“This is what the Capitals are about,” said Bratislava Capitals Hockey Director Joseph Kolodziej. “We are creating opportunities for players who have hockey ability and ambition but want something different from the traditional North American junior hockey path. Glen is another player with a strong hockey background who now gets to experience Bratislava, European hockey and an American-accredited university education at the same time.”

The Capitals will open their 2026–27 EUCHL regular-season schedule this weekend before returning home for their inaugural home games at Tipos/Nepela Arena in Bratislava.
