BRATISLAVA CAPITALS SEEK CANADIAN AND AMERICAN SCOUTS FOR 2027–28 RECRUITING SEASON
The Bratislava Capitals are officially beginning preparations for the 2027–2028 recruiting season and are seeking experienced Canadian and American hockey scouts and recruiting professionals to join the organization’s growing North American scouting network.
As a member of the European Union College Hockey League (EUCHL) and the first hockey program representing VSM City University of Seattle in Bratislava, the Capitals provide North American student-athletes with an opportunity to continue their hockey careers while pursuing an American-accredited university education in Europe.
The organization is looking to establish relationships with scouts throughout Canada and the United States who have established connections within junior hockey, high school hockey, prep hockey, U18/U20 programs, NCAA pathways, academies, and independent player-development programs.
A DIFFERENT COLLEGE HOCKEY PATH
The Bratislava Capitals are building a pathway designed specifically for players who want to combine college education, competitive hockey and an international experience.
Players joining the program have the opportunity to:
- Earn an American-accredited university degree through VSM City University of Seattle.
- Study in English in Bratislava, Slovakia.
- Compete in the EUCHL.
- Live and study in one of Central Europe's most accessible and internationally connected cities.
- Continue their hockey development while pursuing their academic goals.
- Experience European hockey and culture without giving up the college-athlete environment.
For players who may not have a traditional NCAA opportunity — or who are looking for an alternative to the North American college hockey system — the Capitals provide another route to combine higher education and competitive hockey.
SCOUTING OPPORTUNITY
The Capitals are looking for scouts who understand both players and pathways.
Ideal candidates will have experience identifying players who may be overlooked by traditional recruiting systems, including:
- 2006–2009 birth-year players preparing for college hockey.
- NCAA transfer-portal players.
- Players who have completed junior eligibility and are seeking a college opportunity.
- Players who want to study internationally while continuing to play hockey.
- Players who may be academically qualified but do not have a suitable North American scholarship opportunity.
Scouts will serve as an important connection between the Capitals and the North American hockey community, identifying players who fit the organization’s academic, athletic and character standards.
MORE THAN PLAYER IDENTIFICATION
The Capitals are interested in developing long-term scouting relationships, rather than simply collecting player names.
Scouts will have the opportunity to become part of an international recruiting network connecting North American hockey with European college hockey.
The organization is particularly interested in individuals who have strong relationships with:
Ontario • Quebec • Atlantic Canada • Western Canada • New England • New York • Michigan • Minnesota • Wisconsin • Pennsylvania • Massachusetts • Colorado • California • Alaska • Other major North American hockey markets
BUILDING THE 2027–28 CLASS
Recruiting for the 2027–2028 season will begin well in advance of the traditional European college hockey season, with the Capitals evaluating potential recruits throughout the 2026–27 hockey season.
The organization expects its North American scouting network to play an increasingly important role as the EUCHL expands and more North American players become aware of European college hockey opportunities.
“We want to build relationships with people who know hockey at the grassroots level and who understand the players who are sometimes missed by the traditional recruiting process,” said Bratislava Capitals leadership. “Our goal is to identify quality student-athletes in Canada and the United States and introduce them to an international college hockey opportunity that many players may not yet know exists.”
INTERESTED IN JOINING THE NETWORK?
The Bratislava Capitals are inviting independent scouts, recruiting advisers, former coaches, player-development professionals and established hockey evaluators from Canada and the United States to contact the organization regarding opportunities for the 2027–2028 recruiting cycle.
Interested individuals should be prepared to provide:
- Hockey scouting/recruiting background
- Geographic recruiting area
- Current hockey affiliations, if applicable
- Player-development or coaching experience
- North American hockey contacts
- References, where available
The Capitals are open to discussions regarding both regional scouting relationships and broader recruiting partnerships.
