JOSHUA PEXA COMMITS TO VSM BRATISLAVA CAPITALS
The VSM Bratislava Capitals are pleased to announce the commitment of American defenseman Joshua Pexa for the 2026–27 European Union College Hockey League (EUCHL) season.
The 2004-born Pexa, a native of New Prague, Minnesota, joins the Capitals after competing at Lake Region State College, where he played ACHA hockey during the 2025–26 season.
A right-shot defenseman listed at 5-foot-11 and 174 pounds, Pexa gives the Capitals another experienced option on the blue line as the organization prepares for its inaugural season representing VSM City University of Seattle in European collegiate hockey.
ADDING EXPERIENCE TO THE BLUE LINE
Pexa arrives in Bratislava with collegiate hockey experience already behind him, giving the Capitals another player accustomed to the demands of balancing academics, training and competitive hockey.
His right-handed shot also provides additional balance to a Capitals defensive corps that continues to take shape for the inaugural EUCHL season.
“We're excited to add Josh to our defensive group,” said Head Coach Karol Fako. “He has already experienced college hockey, understands what is expected of a student-athlete and brings another right-handed defenseman into our lineup. We believe he can compete for an important role and we're looking forward to seeing what he can bring to our team.”
COLLEGE HOCKEY — IN BRATISLAVA
Pexa's commitment comes as the Capitals continue assembling an international roster for their first EUCHL campaign.
Representing VSM City University of Seattle, the Capitals provide student-athletes with the opportunity to combine an American university education with competitive college hockey while living and studying in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The program's inaugural roster includes players from North America and Europe, creating an international environment both on and off the ice.
For Pexa, the move represents an opportunity to continue his collegiate hockey career while experiencing a new country, new culture and a different hockey environment.
THE NEXT LEVEL
The Capitals have already begun preparations for their inaugural season, completing their first team practice at TIPOS Arena, home of HC Slovan Bratislava, on September 14.
With the season approaching, the addition of Pexa gives the Capitals another experienced defenseman as the team prepares for its first EUCHL games.
“Josh is joining us at an important time,” Fako added. “We're putting the final pieces together and every player has an opportunity to establish himself. We expect him to come in, compete and earn his role.”
The VSM Bratislava Capitals welcome Joshua Pexa to Slovakia and look forward to seeing him begin this next chapter of his hockey and academic career.
