Ryan Hayes Named Warrior Defender of the Week by EUCHL

The European Union College Hockey League (EUCHL) is proud to announce Ryan Hayes of the VSM Bratislava Capitals as the Warrior Defender of the Week, recognizing his impactful performance during the league's opening weekend.

Hayes helped the Capitals launch their inaugural EUCHL regular season with an impressive road victory over Łódź Legion, contributing at both ends of the ice as Bratislava secured a convincing 7–2 win on Saturday, October 17.

Although recognized for his defensive role, Hayes also made a significant contribution offensively, scoring twice in the season opener. He found the back of the net on the power play in the second period before adding his second goal late in the third to complete Bratislava's scoring.

Hayes also recorded an assist on Matias Baumann's third-period power-play goal, finishing the contest with two goals and one assist for three points.

His ability to contribute offensively while playing an important role in the Capitals' overall team performance made him a standout performer during the opening weekend of the EUCHL season.

A Strong Start for the Bratislava Capitals

The Capitals controlled much of the contest against Łódź, outshooting the hosts 54–30 and showcasing the depth of their lineup in the league's first regular-season game.

Bratislava received contributions throughout its lineup, including strong special-teams production and a solid performance from its goaltending tandem. Hayes' three-point outing added another dimension to an impressive team debut.

The victory marked an important first step for the Capitals as they begin their first season representing VSM Bratislava and City University of Seattle in the EUCHL.
